Big Finish Productions is a British company that produces books and audio plays (released straight to compact disc and for download in mp3 format) based, primarily, on cult British science fiction properties. They are best known for their Doctor Who line, but they have also produced a range of audios for 2000 AD, The Avengers (TV), Blake's 7 (see Blake's 7 (Big Finish Series)), Dark Shadows, Highlander, Robin Hood (BBC 2006), Sapphire and Steel, Sherlock Holmes, Stargate, The Tomorrow People and Warhammer.
Their influence in Doctor Who fandom is well known, with many subfandoms occurring as a result of the company's many, many audio dramas. Big Finish has a reputation of taking seemingly literally any character or joke or line in the show, no matter how minor or unimportant, and turning it into an audio, regardless as to whether the fandom wants it or not.
