Benefit of Clergy is a Kirk/Spock story by Eva Stuart.

At KiSmet 2011, Elise M displayed a number of "story pictures" -- Kirk and Spock dolls shown in a scene from a story accompanied by some lines from a story. Fans were challenged to identify with story the tableaus illustrated. These CGAs were later printed in The K/S Press. This one was for "Benefit of Clergy."

It was published in the print zine Prophets in the Wilderness.

Summary

"A new directive from Starfleet puts the security of Captain and First Officer at risk as well as many others in the fleet."

Reactions and Reviews

Finally, the unique and special Kirk and Spock of Eva's long-running, established-relationship series, get married. But not until they can be sure that, by following Starfleet regulations they aren't participating in discrimination against unconventional unions. I love this Kirk and Spock. They are always so gentle with each other, and wise. Long may they relate, established. [1]

Eva Stuart is writing in her series where Kirk and Spock are lovers of many years. I only own a few In The Wilderness zines, and so haven’t read many of Eva’s stories, but this was a self contained story that I had no trouble following. In this story Kirk and Spock are finally getting married due to political pressure from Starfleet. There’s a lot political intrigue in the story about the mandate from Starfleet, and what Kirk and Spock will do about it. I enjoyed reading about their home on Aulos, and about this Kirk and Spock, who love each other deeply and are secure and content with their relationship. [2]
