Some Excerpts
I’I've had a pretty varied fandom-life so far, starting out with several manga & anime-fandoms (like Yu-Gi-Oh!... I was young, okay? There are embarassing fanarts to show for it), Pirates of the Caribbean (as a Norrington-fan), hopping over to Doctor Who after a short stop in the Age of Sail-fandom until finally arriving where I am now with occasionally dabbling in other fandoms, like "Sherlock" :D) I never had any formal art training, but would love to study a bit with other artists, just to get to know other approaches on doing art.
I kinda grew up with wanting to draw fanart for characters I love (I still have a sketchbook from when I was 11 with some rather awkward tries at doing Sailor Moon art). The urge do draw fanart for characters I like is always there, I guess, but I often do not end up drawing anything for it (funnily, it happens more with book!fandoms than tv-shows/movies, I don't even know why). Most often, I want to draw characters because I really adore them and want to add my own twist to them, but since I am awful with words, I do art instead of fic :D
You know, I have to admit that I'm not the best with backgrounds and don't do much planning (and hope for the best ;D). Doing more elaborate backgrounds is a fairly new try for me, but funnily enough, looking through my IKEA-catalog helps me a lot with inspiration for rooms (even if what I'm going to end up with doesn't resemble the catalog at all in the end xD). They have some amazing compositions for their pictures :D
