All my heart I will lay down precisely at your feet is a Steve/Danny story by sirona.
Summary: Lt Cmdr Steve McGarrett is the leader of SEAL Team Six. When the workers at a foreign embassy are taken hostage, his team is dispatched to neutralise the threat and get the hostages to safety. Steve thinks it's just a routine mission. He doesn't realise that rescuing a certain ex-cop and his daughter is about to change the rest of his life.

This is my version of a Harlequin novel, basically. Disgustingly romantic, often trope-abusing, writing this was pure indulgence. I claim absolutely no knowledge of SEAL Sekrit Operations, flying a plane, or the practicalities of American embassies or bases in foreign countries. This story is very loosely based on a Harlequin novel I may have read slightly too often before I donated it to Oxfam. Thanks go to delicatale for hand-holding and much-needed squee, and to quoththewriter for looking it over. Title from The Bird And The Bee's Love Letter to Japan, which is the theme song for this fic. I would now ask you to suspend disbelief and indulge yourselves in a slightly unrealistic Harlequin Romance, Steve/Danny style.

Why we love it: Well written and great fun, this started out as an action story and gracefully moved into a relationship story. The characterizations were still bang on despite the AU. Steve is still a SEAL and Danny's still a cop, Grace is still there and so is Rachel just in a new and very interesting way. This was a very satisfying romance! [1]
Gorgeous AU! I enjoyed the look at Steve-as-a-SEAL, and loved that you kept JohnMcGarrett alive, Mary in Hawaii, & Pat Jameson honest. I also liked that you made Danny get along better w/Rachel & Stan. Your depiction of Grace was perfect--the appealing child we see on the show, without turning her into SuperKid. The Steve/Danny romance was devine--heartclenching and sexy and romantic--and it was lovely to see Steve's family so accepting too. ::applause for a wonderful story:[2]
I am completely in love with this story, so much love.In my teens and early twenties I read voraciously and when I couldn't get the books that were always in demand at the library I would read Harlequin. This is better than Harlequin, this Danny and Steve Harlequin style!
Things I loved,......
that there still is a 5-0, that Steve's dad was still there, that Pat was a decent human being, that Mary & Steve's relationship was solid,that Chin and Kono were still in Steve and Danny's life, that family and friends were sneaky and wanted for Steve what Steve wanted for himself, that they still bickered, that Steve's Dad accepted unconditionally, that Grace was the same lovable little girl that Steve could not resist and that Danny was, well, Danny and that will never change for Steve.[3]
I love this alternate meet up and rescue drama. The instant charge between Danny and Steve is wonderfully captured as they race for their lives in hostile territory. Their relationship is sweet, dramatic, and passionate. Also loved seeing military!Steve. We don't see enough of him in H50 fandom. But my fav bit of this? The McGarretts + Gov Jameson being so crafty about getting them together!! I adored the shifty eyes and grins of anticipation on John and Mary. The Gov pulling those strings to get Steve home for this. *big grin* Just perfect. I was chuckling like a loon.[4]
