Reactions and Reviews
1991
This was a cutie. Far out of course. But a darling story. I want a computer I can talk too and a food processor so badly, I can hardly wait. And if I can get one that solves my personal problems, so much the better. Neat plot.[1]
I found this "computer takes matters into its own hands" story to be a thoroughly enjoyable, light-hearted read, even if the premise was a bit far-fetched. Just the right mixture of humor, angst, and warmth. Fun and heart-warming. [2]
2000
This is a cute little story where the Enterprise itself (herself?) takes a hand in Kirk and Spock’s romance. Kirk is dictating into his personal log one night, comparing his passion for the Enterprise with his undeclared passion for Spock. “Both faithful, always there. And I can’t really touch either one of you.” But what really gets the ship upset is when he says: “Suppose I told him? Would he freeze me out?.... I’d lose it all then. Would you mourn my loss, silver lady? Could I really leave you both?”That apparently does it for the silver lady, because a series of mysterious malfunctions occur, all of them with the apparently inadvertent result of throwing captain and first officer together—with the expected final consequences.
This story is sure to bring a smile to your face. Cute! [3]
