A Galaxy Far, Far Away is a gen and het Star Wars anthology zine published by Debbie Gitschlag. There were five issues starting in 1983.

A Joint Project: Pen Pals!

Around 1984, two zines -- this one, and Citizens of the Cosmos -- began to offer a pen pal service.

Citizens of the Cosmos and A Galaxy Far, Far Away will finally offer a long-demanded pen pal list/service.

This list will be available to all at $2,00 each. It will be approximately 25 pages long and contain the names and addresses of all who love Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr. Who, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Battlestar Galactica, The Tomorrow People, and many other types of science fiction and fantasy.

In addition, we will have a minimum amount of space for small ads, zines, 'wanted' and 'for sale' sections, and 'trade pals only'. ALL ads and pen pal listings will be printed free of charge. To receive a listing, however, will cost you, whether you are a subscriber to Citizens of the Cosmos or A Galaxy Far,Far Away, or not.

When sending in your listing to be printed, please be sure to PRINT or TYPE plainly. We will not run your ad if we can't read it. List your name, address, age, interests, hobbies, and whatever you'd like others to know about you. You MAY list in over one section if you want to.

We will include some great small pieces of artwork on our pen pal listIIf you'd like yours to be seen,send it to us with your ad.Art will be returned to you only if you provide the proper postage.

Our first listing of the Citizens of the Cosmos Pen Pals will be available after August 1st, 1984.Hurry and get your ad in to us before this fall listing is closed. We will not print another list until the New Year (1985!!).

Issue 1

A Galaxy Far, Far Away 1 was published in November 1983 and contains 159 pages.

Issue 2

A Galaxy Far, Far Away 2 was published in May 1984 and contains 159 pages.

Issue 3

A Galaxy Far, Far Away 3 was published in April 1985 and contains 106 pages. The front and back cover is by Judy Wolfgram. The interior illos are by Myles Bos, Leslie Paul Diaz, Alma Hedrick, Betty Monfette, and Lynn Monfette.

A Galaxy Far, Far Away 4 was published in 1986 and has 113 pages. Contributors include Lynne Monfette, Sandy Hanson, Frances McMahan, Gerald Crotty, Tammy Monfette, David Hicks, Lynne Terry-Hicks and others.

  • a story (Luke and Anakin Skywalker are kidnapped by the Emperor, who now rules in the absolute Darkness of the Force. But they find an unexpected means of escape as Leia and Han scour the galaxy and time itself for their lost Jedi.)
  • From the Continuing Adventures of Luke Skywalker (A series of 3 short stories that take us beyond ROTJ and follow Luke as he makes new decisions about his own destiny.)

  • The Wasted Dream by Tammy Monfette (Luke's mission was to find the new Empress, said to be taking over the Imperial Government in Palpatine's name. But he didn't find exactly what he expected. And what was he to do with Wedge, now that his friend was falling in love with the girl?)
  • In the Forest of the Night by Alma Hedrick (After crashing on an Imperial-held planet, Luke encounters a mysterious mystical woman and her beautiful daughter who aid him in his flight. But with the Imperials hot on their trail, will they make it to the rendezvous with Han in time?
