The NarutoFanfiction subreddit is a place for discussing, requesting, sharing, writing and promoting fanfiction related to the Naruto setting. Other Naruto-related fanworks (art, videos, etc.) are generally not allowed, though audiobook recordings of fanfiction (made with author permission) are also permitted. There is an associated discord server, with some overlap between the moderation teams but slightly different rules and community norms. Notably, the discord has a section for sharing art.
The subreddit has around 75k members as of February 2024, with about 450k views and 10k unique visitors per week.
During the reddit moderator strike in 2023, /r/NarutoFanfiction was one of the subreddits to temporarily enter restricted mode. The closing post and reopening post describe the situation and subreddit response in more detail.
Exchanges, Fests and Other Events
The discord and subreddit have in 2020 hosted their own fic exchange, the r/NarutoFanfiction Gift Exchange.
In the following year this was merged with Exchange no Jutsu, an exchange that was started in 2020 by Wafflelate and Heartbeatstumbles. In 2021 Wafflelate ran Exchange no Jutsu (or EnJ) in conjunction with the /r/NarutoFanfiction discord server. In 2022 the event was renamed to Fest no Jutsu and run as a fest rather than an exchange, this time entirely by the subreddit and discord moderation team. This was repeated in 2023 as well. Going forward, this is expected to be a regular annual event.
Additional events have been held by the subreddit and discord, including a RarePair Challenge [1] where every story submitted needed to be, at the time of writing, the only story with that pairing tag on AO3.
