"...what's an arcsecond?" is a Forever Knight short story by Imajiru. It is set in an AU that deviates from canon after the episode, "Ashes to Ashes". Canonically, the Earth appeared to be threatened by an asteroid; but the calculations were in error, and it missed the planet. In Imajiru's story, the asteroid did strike, with immediate and long-term devastation.
The story follows the post-apocalyptic history of Nick Knight and Natalie Lambert. Initially, they attempt to live in the ruins, until she falls ill. Finally, to save her, he brings her across; and they go north to a supposedly safe haven that has been established by the vampire Community.
The story was nominated in both 1997 and 1998 for a Forever Knight Fan Fiction Award in the category of Historic Short Story
