(First Impressions Are) A Work in Progress is a Steve/Tony story by porthos.
Summary: Tony has a point system for the times he can get Steve to be less than perfect.
At various points, this fic was also titled: "The Corruption of Captain America by Tony Stark", "Tony's Superpower Is Being An Asshole", "Tony Stark Just Needs A Hug Dammit", "Steve Is Stubborn And Will Make Tony His BFF If It's The Last Thing He Does", and "I Accidentally A Cap Character Study via Tonyfeels". I feel like that collection of titles gives you an idea of the degeneration of this thing, plot-wise, and also a much better summary of this fic than the actual summary. [This fic influenced/inspired by: 1) marielikestodraw's art which I swear is like 50% of the reason I'm in this fandom, 2) this set of gifs of Pepper and Tony which I somehow convinced myself was an actual canon scene in Avengers, and thus became the jumping off point for this entire fic, 3) scenes from the Avengers trailers, and 4) NCIS sexual harassment training. Plot wise, this fic ended up going is a whole different direction than I intended, and also ended up being a hell of a lot less angsty than I envisioned.

Really excellent Steve/Tony fic. Great characterization mostly from Tony's POV. Both of them fighting like an old married couple and then falling in love. A little steam at the end and the banter is pretty spot on Tony.[1]
It’s packed with Tony feels, Steve feels, banters, blushing Steve, perfect characterizations, sexual harassment training and strippers. What’s not to like about this fic. A MUST read. Also, pining Tony is just too adorable to handle for me. And Tony, sometimes you are an idiot.[2]
This is sosososo good. I stayed up until midnight to read it last night even though I had exams I was supposed to be studying for. Oops. It’s a bit smutty, but not that smutty. And it’s a tad angsty, but it’s hurt/comfort angst, so it just ends up being super fluffy and full of love and rainbows. Ugh. It’s wonderful.[3]
This is the best Stony fic i’ve read so far. First one with the same head-canon i have of these two superdudes[4]
What can I say? I’m a sucker for fics where Tony and steve start off hating each other. And my goodness, does this fic deliver on that.[5]
