A Yuri Aquarium Date is trope found in yuri works where a pair, who may or may not be dating, visit an aquarium together. While aquarium's have been used in yuri for many years it is generally agreed upon that Bloom Into You's inclusion of an aquarium date, and the subsequent success and influence of that series as a whole, propelled yuri aquarium dates into their current trope status.
An aquarium date chapter in the latest issue of Yuri-Hime got me trying to remember whether chapter 24 of Bloom Into You was the point when aquariums became a meme to yuri fandom. A Tropical Fish Yearns For Snow, which puts two girls in a school aquarium club (based on a real school), had started at around the same time that chapter came out so I think the 2 series together made it feel common. Earlier things like Shizuku no Oto, Koi ni Naritai Aquarium, Symphogear G ep 8 and Sakura Trick ch 41 (edit: also Netsuzou Trap ch 15) (edit2: Sailor Stars ep 1 deserves being included) probably prepared the ground to allow it to take root, but I don't think they had established it as a yuri thing. After all, aquariums as a story location are quite common outside yuri.
Aquarium's are now often joked about in yuri fandom as being a sign that a couple has hit an important milestone.

- The first episode of Sailor Moon's 5th season featured established couple Haruka and Michiru at an aquarium.
- Chapter 24 of Bloom Into You, later animated in episode 13, had Yuu and Touko go a date to an aquarium.
