Reactions and Reviews
(Spock/Zarabeth/McCoy) Spock and McCoy are bondmates. In an interesting take on the relationship, it turns out that McCoy, unlike Kirk, is an excellent mind-match for Spock. McCoy has agreed to the bond with some skepticism, but has by now fallen in love with his bondmate, and suffers a good deal from jealousy, assuming that naturally Spock really wanted Kirk instead of himself. When they land in Zarabeth's cave on Sarpeidon, Spock forms an additional bond with Zarabeth - an equally good mind-match - not realizing that this will drive McCoy crazy with jealousy. The three must come to terms with their relationship - and they have plenty of time; no rescue in this universe. Excellent writing; McCoy is rather too much of a drama queen for my taste here, but otherwise fine characterization, especially of a very sensible Zarabeth, and the author does a good job reminding us that these three people do belong to different species.
