History
Founded on Freeservers in 2001, YMMV moved to GeoCities in September 2001 after Freeservers TOSsed the site. The site at the new location had a new design with colour logos. YMMV's last update appears to have been at this time, however the site remained on the web until the demise of GeoCities in 2009.
Influence
The recs site Bright Shiny Objects was created in the spirit of the much-missed YMMV.[1] Unfit for Society describes it: Very good recs site - stop'n'shop for fic in many fandoms; ... Heavy on X-Files.[2]
