Wraithbait used to be the central archive of the Stargate: Atlantis (SGA) fandom. It accepted fanfic of all types and pairings pertaining to SGA (except for RPF or stories featuring underage relationships) and was affiliated with the Wraithbait (slash) and Wraithgate (gen and het) SGA mailing lists.

The site was launched November 9, 2004.[3]

The archive was moderated but is no longer open to new submissions. Authors had a lot of control over their works on Wraithbait and were able to edit the content or headers of their fic even after it was archived.

The site had twelve skins that users could choose from, ranging from minimal to flashy, including a pair of Ronon and Teyla pirate-themed layouts in honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day.

The site went down some time in late 2019/early 2020.

Please note that we do not, however, accept stories featuring real person fiction or underage relationships.

Your archivists are Temaris and Alyse. If you have any questions, or are experiencing any problems registering or logging in, they can be reached by using the 'contact' option on their user profile, linked here.[4]

Submission Guidelines

Warnings

Wraithbait has "very basic, high level" warnings outlined on its Submission Rules page that exist to make sure that "no one accidentally reads anything that they don't want to". While they are not a requirement, posters are asked to "please use them."[5] The built-in warnings include:

  • adult themes
  • character death
  • may squick (this allows the poster to indicate that there may be an element of the post that may not be to everyone's taste)
  • non-consensual

Authors are encouraged to incorporate any more specific warnings in their story notes.

"A Gentle Reminder About the No Character Bashing Rule" (2008)

Rule number seven of the archive reads thus:

No character bashing stories. Character bashing includes, but is not limited to, making characters look bad because you think that they are a threat to your OTP or your favourite character; making characters look bad because you think it makes your favourite character look good in comparison; characters acting severely out of character - plotting murder, committing rape, beating the hell out of people - for no good reason that is explained in the story when there is no indication in canon that they would behave in such a way. Please note that this does not mean that we don't accept dark stories, but if your canon character reads as though they are cackling wildly and swirling a black mustache, or weeps, wails and has a streak of yellow ten foot wide while someone else saves the day, you've probably crossed the line into character bashing.

I'm putting it here because we've had a very small run of character-bashing stories lately, but a run nonetheless, and it therefore seemed time to remind everyone that it is not something this archive can accept.

Given the above, if you are going to post a story where you feel you need to warn the audience that you are bashing a character, you are breaking the archive rules. Please don't do it. :)

Edited to Add: We are not planning on removing any stories already in the archive--if they are here, it's because we've already gone over them and found them compliant with the archive rules. This was a reminder for anyone considering posting a new story.[6]

"Don't make me release the Flying Monkeys, people!" (2006)

As you all are aware, this archive is a moderated archive, which means that the vast majority of stories submitted to the archive are reviewed by Leah or I before they're validated and added. This is to ensure that they meet the requirements of the archive in terms of quality, content and formatting.

Now, Leah and I pride ourselves on getting to and validating stories as quickly as possible, despite the fact that we both have other commitments like jobs and families. It's very, very rare that a story is in the queue for more than twenty four hours and where they have been it's been unavoidable - either we've not been able to get online or there's something that Leah and I need to discuss before we can validate it. And even those stories are usually validated within 36 to 48 hours of submission.

Unfortunately, Leah and I still regularly receive mails from people wanting to know why their stories have not been validated, even though their stories haven't been in the queue a full day by that point. For some reason 16 hours seems to be a favourite length of time between submitting and chasing us. I have no idea why. I assume it's one of the unknowable mysteries of the universe.

Maybe there's a rip in the fabric of space and time.

I'm not actually singling anyone out - because as I said this happens a lot or I wouldn't be saying anything :) - but can I please ask people to be a little more patient about the whole submission process? While I'm thrilled that you're all so keen to have your stories added to the archive, mailing us so soon after submission is not going to get your story validated any faster. All that happens is that when we finally get a chance to get online in the evening and check our mail to see if any new stories have been submitted, your mail is sitting there right alongside the new submissions notification. And we can't validate it any earlier than that because neither of us has a time machine :) (although that would be really, really cool).

So, please, give it at least three or four days before you mail us. That way I won't have to release the flying monkeys and frankly that just gets messy for everyone :) [7]

The Stargate: Atlantis fanfiction archive. Affiliated with the mailing list of the same name, but open to all genres and authors. Updated frequently, the archive can only be browsed by pairing. Still fairly new, so still in the growing stages, but there's some good stories on there.[8]
