Wishes, Reflected Hopes and Reality is a Kirk/Spock story by Kay Wells.

art in the zine by Shelley Butler -- "Wonderful Mirror Kirk and Spock. In the story this accompanies, Kirk is remembering, and the drawing has the look of a dream/remembrance. Sometimes Shelley's pencil work almost looks like a watercolor; this is one fine effect." [1]

It was published in the print zine Within the Mirror #9.

Summary

"Spock overhears Kirk tell McCoy that he wishes he and Spock were like their counterparts in the M/U, lovers."

Reactions and Reviews

When this story began with Kirk talking to McCoy about the mirror Spock. and then Kirk talking to Spock about relationships, and then Kirk thinking about mirror Spock, and then Kirk talking some more to Spock about having sex. I sighed. Oh well, another rather dull story where everyone talks too much. Then. Kirk and Spock stop talking. That was when I fell on the floor and started thrashing around while Spock was performing a truly cosmic blow job on Kirk. Boy! Did the story ever take off! Actually, less of a story, more of an erotic interlude, this interlude sure was fun to read. [2]

After events of Mirror episode, Kirk is daydreamy about Mirror-Spock. His feelings are revealed to us in a discussion with McCoy, who is drawn quite perfectly here—an enjoyable view of him. Kirk admits it's love, and he wishes Spock could be as free as M-Spock, that Spock would come to him and take what he wants, let his dominant side out. Kirk says there is nothing he would not willingly give Spock.

It was a lovely thrill, to learn after the fact that Spock has heard all this from outside the door (as opposed to knowing, while we were reading Kirk's words, that Spock was outside the door). Spock goes to Kirk's cabin, dressed casually (and so sexy), and tells Kirk outright that he heard it all. What a wonderful scene! Kirk is intensely embarrassed.

It turns out Kirk is wrong about Spock not being able to be dominant. Not a problem! Very nice sex. After a logical and sexy discussion. Wonderfully lots—pages and pages—of divine Vulcanly-wild sex. Some especially beautiful language too. Spock's marks on Kirk's body were nothing compared to the imprint on his soul....

Afterwards, drifting off. Kirk tells Spock the others are lovers. This is really a beautiful feeling story. [3]
