This is a very unusual a/u slave story that incorporates chess. Kirk is a slave belonging to a Romulan who is Spock's opponent in a championship chess game. It is the events that take place during the chess championship that bring about Kirk's freedom and K/S. I was impressed by the author's originality and inagination.
