Reactions and Reviews
"When I Was Seventeen" by Jo Scott-Ross details another adventure with 17 year-old Spock and Thomas O' Shannessy. Well-written, this story even has a moral at the end. Not K/S, but definitely adult. [1]
The clever humor of "When I Was Seventeen," by Jo Scott-Ross, offsets some of the more emotionally sobering stories. A 17-year-old Spock shares life with a rascal of a human. A great writer uses wonderful images to show us a very endearing Spock. You'll want to know why Spock and his friends have to escape the authorities. [2]
When I Was Seventeen by Jo Scott-Ross (11 pages) concerns Spock's relationship, as a 17 year old runaway, with a rather reprehensible (but likable) human named Thomas O'Shannessy. The young Spock portrayed here is engaging & believable. His misadventures with Thomas, aboard the LocoMotion, are eminently enjoyable & cast an amusing light on the grown-up Spock (Kirk's bondmate) who briefly appears at the end of the story where he is about to explain to Kirk (I wish I could hear this one) why he is a 'wanted man' on Sigma IV. Again, those who want their K/S to focus primarily on the relationship between Kirk & Spock may be disappointed. [3]
