Reactions and Reviews

1989

This is an interesting view of Edith Keeler's death. There are nice little touches, like the "curiously supplicatory gesture" of Kirk's hand, lying at his side. And Kirk's mental processes seem altogether possible. I was a bit surprised at the end, though. To me, it reads as if Kirk is using "sex as a means to reaffirm life." That doesn't necessarily mean, as Spock fears, that he's "merely a convenient partner." But I wish the issue wasn't raised and then dropped so quickly. [1]
