:

War of the Worlds Surplus is a brand new, news/1etterzine; over 50 pages long, dealing with War of the Worlds in all its incarnations: the H.G. Wells novel, the radio broadcast in 1938, comics, the 1953 movie produced by George Pal, the television series and other relevant materials.

Also this zine will not be restricted to only War of the Worlds, but will also handle other films, movies, books, videos, ect.; that have the invasion theme: The Thing, Invaders From Mars, The Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Plan Nine From Outer Space, V, Blade Runner, The Invaders and so on, will be featured in Mana From Heaven.

Mr. Malzor's Neighborhood will have a different subject each issue. Issue number one will have a Doomsday Survey where you can vote for your own favorite scenario on how the world will end; with the results being featured in the next issue.

Norton's Niche will have a look at the new computer and video technology: New Tek's, Video Toaster, DCTV and the Hitachi 170 Color Video Printer; can all be used to print stills from video formats, and how these images can be transferred on to mugs, ball caps, T shirts and other items will be covered in issue number one.

Alien Artifacts will review books on or about fandom. Reviews of Enterprising Women, Bimbos of the Death Sun, and Zombies of the Gene Pool, Textual Poachers will be in issue one.

Attack of the Alien Financiers! is an interesting article written in the 1930's about who is really getting your tax dollars.

Aftermath will feature news about what the producers, directors ,writers, and cast of the 1953 movie and the television series; have done and are doing.

Alien Reports will give news about what War of the Worlds fanzines are still available.

Letters of Comment will of course have letters from the readers which I will edit for spelling, grammar, and so forth. I will not print letters that contain personal attacks or excessively obscene language.

The Path of Lies will explore the effects with omission, lies, crazy-making, deception, agi-prop, propaganda, psychwar and similar phenomena in the media today and what our alternatives might be.

On Guard will look at issues affecting the media. Issue one will look at the possible impact the issue of family values on what we see, read, and hear.

Alien Base will contain information about up coming events and poetry.

Neither Here Nor There will feature items that are neither here nor there as they relate to WDW, but I think might be of interest.

The Back Pages will have press releases, and other information not featured in other sections of the zine. There will be a Classified Ad section.

The zine will have pictures, illios, cartoons, and poetry.

Cost of the zine is five dollars payable to Steve Shewmaker; to the above address, and I hope to have the zine out before January.
