WangxianFicFinder is a blog on tumblr for helping MDZS/The Untamed fanfic readers find fics -- both fics they've read before and recommendations for new fics. It split off from Wangxian Fic Recs in January 2022. Despite the name, WangxianFicFinder takes requests for any ships and genres, as long as it is for the MDZS and YiZhan fandoms. (If people request, e.g. TGCF fics, mods will redirect them to other fic-finder communities. Crossovers with MDZS are allowed on the blog.)

Format/Activities

Moderators: Mojoflower (She/Her) | ladyunderthemolehill (Mod L - They/Them) | MissCellophane-Ao3 (Mod C - She/They)[1]

The blog collects requests from asks and ?comments on other platforms? into "roundup" posts which get posted every few days. They add suggestions from readers in the main post, and reblog with updates several times.

For both of these, the mods make custom banners for the top of the post.

Frequently recurring posts

  • Fic Finders (tag): requests for specific fics, usually ones that the requester has read before but forgotten the title/link to.
  • I'm in the Mood For (ITMF)" (tag): more open requests for any fics that fit the specifications
  • YiZhan FF/ITMF ([https://wangxianficfinder.tumblr.com/tagged/yizhan%20fic%20recs tag): for the Wang Yibo/Xiao Zhan RPF fandom -- lower volume of requests means that Fic Finder and In The Mood For requests are often combined into the same roundup post

All three of these posts follow a standard format: Numbered list of requests; answers for the requests are filled in below each number as the blog readers suggest them. The mods copy links, AO3 tags and warnings, and will note if fics are archive-locked. They might also include comments from the suggester. They will reblog the main post several times (usually once per day over about half a week) to make followers aware of new suggestions added to the post (note: this is to cope with how Tumblr handles post edits).

One-time or longer term posts

  • Compilations (list): much longer collections of fics matching a certain theme (e.g. "Heavy Angst", "Youtubes/Actors", "Mpreg"). This is more of a one-and-done than a recurring post thing, and if readers have more suggestions weeks or months later, they might be added onto the old post, though they made "Updated" compilations featuring newer fics on the same theme a few times.

Networking/Linking to other blogs

They are aware of/in conversation with/support other fic-rec and fic-finding fan spaces, and will frequently cross-promote other spaces. Also MDZS Kink Meme (on the argument that if the fic you want to read doesn't exist maybe you can go there to get it written).
