A voice fixation is a strong personal fondness of the sound or quality of a particular person's voice. Although this appreciation can be purely aesthetic and non-sexual, it is known as voice kink when it occurs within the context of sexual activity, desire, or attraction.
Real people with distinctive voices are sometimes subject to mass fannish appreciation of their voices. Typically, voice fandoms center on male actors or YouTubers with deep baritone voices, but women and softer-voiced men also have followings. Accents can also be a factor in voice fandoms, with those from the British Isles, in particular, being favoured (and some argue fetishized) in North America. Voice fans sometimes jokingly declare that they would listen to the person read a phone book or similarly dull material just to hear them speak.[1]
Fanfics featuring the voice kink trope frequently make a point of describing the character's voice in detail. Dirty talk often figures in fictive sexual situations involving voice kink. Characters sometimes spout dirty talk to satisfy their lover's wish to hear their voice even if it's not their kink.
