User talk:Wednesday John

This is my first attempt at posting something under my username of Wednesday John. The results are not encouraging. I can see no intuitive way to select my type font or size, and at first glance, this site completely baffles me.

An attempt to copy and paste. Successful but does not copy what I wrote.

Life is short, so I will concede defeat and move on.

John

Welcome

Hi Wednesday John, welcome to Fanlore! You might find pages in Category:Introductory Pages useful for editing tips. Do let us know if you need any help adding information about fandoms or fannish happening to our article pages. You can just leave a message on your talk page (here), or the talk page of the article you're editing. Other editors and gardeners like myself will be happy to help! Good Luck --21:12, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

Thanks for the welcome, but after accepting me, the site refuses to recognize my email address, my username (We∂nesday John) or my password. Thus I can't access the site snd must accept defeat. Obviously, the fault lies in me. John

Hi John, I'm sorry to hear that. If you are able to login and post to this talk page then it appears you can access the site. New users are not able to create new pages until 4 hours after account creation. (See the contributions section of our FAQ) Could that have been the issue?
You can use the search bar (top right) to find articles on topics that interest you. If you find a page where you want to add more information, you should be able to click edit (top right) to edit the page you are reading. Our Help:Cheatsheet can provide some editing tips, and editing a page is very similar to writing a message on your talk page. We also have a help page for starting a new page. Let me know if that helps. --Auntags (talk) 21:49, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

No, although I seem to be able to "talk" to you, I can't find my way to create any pages and when I attempt to log in using my accepted combination in order to start, entry is refused.Obviously this site is simply too complex for my simple writer's mind. I was looking for a simple archive site to upload my stuff and allow a simple search function. I seem to have misinterpreted your site. A friend recommended it. Sorry to cause you all this bother. I'm not annoyed, just amused by how technology can sometimes get in the way of communication. John

Huh, I'm not sure why that is happening. Once you're logged in and can post here, you should not be asked to login again.
Can I ask what type of content you're trying to archive on Fanlore? I ask because from your comments, I think you want to archive Fanfiction or Meta (essays). Is this correct? Unfortunately, Fanlore does not host blog posts, fanfictions or meta essays. Fanlore is a place to record both the history and current state of fan communities. We have pages talking about specific

fanfictions, but do not host the stories or essays on this site. If you are trying to archive fanfiction, archiveofourown.org would be more appropriate. For essays or blogposts, I'd recommend Tumblr or Dreamwidth. This information may or may not apply to you, but I just want to be clear on that. --Auntags (talk) 22:33, 17 October 2020 (UTC)

Mystery solved. I'm on the wrong site. Sorry about all this. Thanks for your kind attention. John Fisher

That's perfectly okay. I'm happy to help! --Auntags (talk) 22:54, 17 October 2020 (UTC)
