Meet Merry

Merryfortune (she/her) is an Australian fanfiction writer who has been active on Archive Of Our Own since 2015-04-25 and used Fanfiction.net previously but has gone inactive on that site. Overall, Merryfortune is interested in anime, manga, and video game related fandoms. She modded for Vrains Month 2021 on Tumblr and Twitter and 5 Days of Yu-Gi-Oh! Femslash on Tumblr (2022). Her most notable OTP is Respectfulshipping (Ryoken/Spectre) from the Yu-Gi-Oh! spin-off VRAINS and has written over fifty works for them.

Merryfortune has been a writer in various zines across Yu-Gi-Oh!, Uma Musume, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Pokemon, My Next Life as a Villainess, Fire Emblem and PreCure. She also enjoys participating in Rare Pair Weeks, Mini Bangs, Big Bangs, and other shipping weeks in addition to pan-fandom events such as Femslash February and Kinktober.

An avid prompt filler, Merryfortune is taking part in 100ships on Dreamwidth and has presently filled 56 of the 100 prompts.

Aside from writing, Merryfortune also enjoys drawing at a hobbyist level and has a cutesy, cartoony-anime style. She uses the art program Medibang Pro and a Wacom tablet. Beginning in August of 2022, Merryfortune began to use Live2D Cubism and has taken a casual interest in animated illustrations and Vtubing. In February 2023, she debuted her own Vtuber model whom she streams on Twitch with. Her biggest art-related endeavour as of present for drawing is to draw favourite Yu-Gi-Oh! character Spectre weekly until he is put into the spin-off mobile game, Duel Links. This campaign, as she calls it, began in September after the official Yu-Gi-Oh! Vrains world trailer dropped and it is unknown how long this campaign will last - or if her momentum will either.

Merryfortune is currently trying to import the niche Cakeverse AU from Eastern fandom to the West. Cakeverse being an Omegaverse-esque world in which there are normal people (whom she has dubbed Plates), Forks, and Cakes. Cakes are people who innately taste like cake but are unaware of their condition until they encounter a Fork. A Fork being a person who has no sense of taste except for sweets and to them, certain people also taste like cake.

  • Dandelion's Link VRAINS avatar was originally named "Cloudy" as part of a pun on her name KU-reha MORI-kawa until she was reworked for a more nature-inspired character motif.
  • Kureha's family name was almost changed to Hinamori as a Shugo Chara reference but Morikawa remained.
  • There exists unused lore that Spectre has a lock of Kureha's hair that he cut unknowingly from her.
  • Their shipping/oshi mark is the ghost emoji (👻) followed by the yellow/white flower emoji (🌼).
