40-something, married, no kids, one cat. Fannish lurker for the most part with occasional ventures into beta-reading and commenting.

Fannish History

Looking back, my first venture into the world of fandom was sometime in the early 80's when my brother and I were introduced to Star Trek: TOS in re-runs by our parents. The swing set in our yard quickly became the starship Enterprise and the location of many dramatic adventures of Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock.

My early teens were spent faithfully following everything NKOTB, still the most awesome boy band ever imho, but I was limited to magazines, posters, t-shirts and sighing with schoolmates over the boys.

My first online fandom adventures started with the X-Files and the Gossamer Project, reading as much Mulder/Scully romance as I could. As the web expanded, so did my fandom explorations, searching through mailing list archives for My first Star Trek K/S stories into webrings for Star Trek:VOY fans.

University saw the creation of my first fandom website (on Angelfire!) dedicated to my favourite Star Trek sites and fanfic, even a couple of my very own stories that thankfully seem to have disappeared into the mists of the net. It also broadened my fandom appetite, following my favourite authors into new fandoms (and source material). Buffy, Angel, Highlander, Starsky and Hutch... I'm sure I'm missing some!

Real life intruded after university, getting married, moving, a real job and my fannish passions retreated for a few years until CSI grabbed my attention, Livejournal gave me a home and Nick Stokes ended up buried alive. Oh_No_Nicky became a favoured hangout - reading CSI fic, commenting on stories, discussing episodes. At least until Gil and Sara got together and I found my love for CSI waning.

The last decade has seen my fannish activity cycle through highs and lows, mostly lurking on the fringes of a few major fandoms to read and follow along but not getting involved. The desire to participate again is growing, so I'm starting small here on fanlore!

Right now I'm all about Dean/Cas and Steve/Bucky with occasional visits to old friends. Tumbler is grabbing my attention even though it makes me feel old some days!
