It's the night before James Gunther's first parole hearing, and Hutch reflects on the past. [1]

This is difficult to read in places, in the way of a really solid piece of character work gone sideways. This idea of them gives me the shivers with both its reality and the plausibility you give it. [2]

Wow, that was intense. And extremely well written! A really excellent fic. [3]
This was a very painful story to read. You did an excellent job. But now I must go find a sweet slashy story to read so I can sleep well tonight.[4]

God this hurt, on so many levels. So plausible, and so bloody heartbreaking. God I hate your Starsky in this and I want to hug Hutch so much it hurts. What an excellent piece of writing. Everything about this is perfect, the disintegration of their partnership, their love and everything around them. Hutches thoughts and reactions as it all falls apart are heart-rending.
Brilliantly done, and you ripped my heart out with every word. God this hurt more than any death fic. Bravo.
But excuse me I need to find a good partnership fic or a really happy slash fic or even just watch a few episodes, I need something to reaffirm that my boys are still there for each other and that Starsky didn't abandon my baby. [5]

This brilliant piece of work - the writing, the plot the emotions expressed and elicited - has left me chilled, sad, devastated. Despite that, I will torture myself with reading it again.[6]
My heart is broken after reading this. I actually have tears in my eyes. I want to give Hutch a hug and Starsky a good smack upside the head. But yet, this rings true had things happened that way.[7]
Damn, that was heartbreaking. I think I might need to go read a deathfic now to cheer myself up, LOL. I echo what the other commenters have said. I'm writing this with tears in my eyes. This story was soooo painful to read, but so very, very awesome.[8]

Usually I don't read slash, nothing against it, it's just that I cannot believe the concept of S&H as being lovers, but browsing the net, I'd read a recommendation of your story on Hutch's grenhouse website and since it's so highly praised, just had to give it a try, and, my God, what a heartbreaking, excellent story. I am impressed besides sad (In a good way) and almost out of words. This story is way sadder than any death fic I've ever read. Outstanding writing, simply unforgettable story. Kudos, kudos, kudos! What else can I say? [9]

A post Sweet Revenge story set several years after canon, concerning Gunther’s parole hearing. This story does NOT have a happy ending, so read at your own risk if you think you can handle it. It still haunts me. [10]
Sadness. Tears. Tightness in my chest. It is more than I can handle thinking of the obliteration of such an amazing relationship. The complete abandonment that Hutch experiences. It seems like Starsky has become hard and cold, and you can almost see Hutch’s life dissolving away.
I was warned that this was a devastating story when it was recommended, and boy were they right!
Excellent writing, but a very difficult story. [11]
