Tolkien Week is a week-long celebration of J.R.R. Tolkien and all things Middle-earth including The Silmarillion, The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings series of novels. Tolkien Week is always celebrated during the calendar week that contains Hobbit Day (September 22).
Tolkien Week was officially declared by the American Tolkien Society in 1978. The event is celebrated most often by hosting academic seminars and raising awareness of Tolkien's books in schools, libraries, and bookstores. [1]
