Reactions and Reviews

Boy! When this girl wants to write a downright, drop-dead sexy story, she does! Does she ever! Spock is teaching at the Academy and Kirk meets him there. Spock increasingly becomes aware of Kirk's attraction to him and likewise... 'They were standing inches apart, touching only with eyes and the promises with them..."

I could say more, but when I got to the part where Spock literally carried Kirk while his fingers were inside him... I just don't have any words because I've dissolved into that proverbial puddle...

I ready liked the clever ending in the way it tied the story together. Excuse me while I go back and read about Spock carrying Kirk while.... [1]

Sarek sent Spock to Starfleet to learn about the "ruthless humans" (Earth is a "hellhole") and so for the Vulcans to eventually defeat them. This was a well-drawn Mirror set-up, particularly the Academy. Life on Earth in the Mirror universe is certainly an interesting study I'd like to see more of.

Spock goes to the Academy and happens to save cadet Kirk from being beaten up by Finnegan and his pals. Besides a nice tale of seduction and resistance, I thought it a good touch that when Kirk then saved Spock's life, they were "even." This seems a credible thing to base a "friendship" on in this universe.

Finally they have sex — quite nice... Really fine, succinct writing. [2]

This story approaches the issue of power inequality in a sexual relationship between an instructor and a student by failing to deal with it. Kirk may have believed that he and Spock were equals and that he could overturn hierarchy, but the power disparity did exist. Spock's sexual involvement with Kirk while Kirk was still his student was ethically questionable. There were also problems with Spock's characterization. I truly cant envision a Spock who is so clumsy and distracted that he falls down a well. I also can't imagine Spock naked in a public place calmly meditating. Wouldn't he be concerned about his public nudity. [3]
