The Time-Turner is a magical device used for time travel in the Harry Potter series. It resembles an hourglass on a necklace.

It is often used in fanworks as a method of rewinding a character's story and letting them re-live the past, using the Time-Turner as a starting point.

Hermione Granger's use of the Time-Turner in order to attend more classes in her third year sparked inspiration in some, giving the fandom more information about the Time-Turner. In the same year, she used it with Harry, leading to some key moments in the third book/movie, Prisoner of Azkaban.
