This World is a Battlestar Galactica fanvid by buffyann. It was reviewed by nushanakt on October 25, 2009 at the vid commentary LJ community. In addition, the vidder provided extended commentary[1] there as well. The vid premiered at Vividcon 2008.
Vidder's summmary: "This world is still afloat, we still have hope."
Vidder's notes: "The idea for this came very early on from watching the pilot of BSG and whenever the opening credits came in, there was just something about them that totally marked me then. It wasn't the usual SciFi music, it carried so much more, so much pain and hope as well. it was clearly established then for me, how the show was not about scifi, but about this lost civilization looking for a meaning and a way to survive. It's always been what dragged me to BSG. And so this vid is suppose to mirror this idea. The lyrics tell you the rest better than me."

Watching it at VidUKon, my head snapped up from the programme booklet as soon as I heard the opening chords of the song, and I was just entranced by the flow of the editing. From the initial opening credits I immediately knew this was going to be a different kind of BSG vid. Because of the diversity of the massive ensemble cast and the multiple plotlines, I find that many BSG vids tend to focus on one specific character, theme, or pairing. And this is by no means a bad thing: in fact, I love how BSG vids allow the fans to delve a little deeper into characters or pairings that may have not been paid as much attention as they could have in the canon.
