X-Verse was a collaborative fanfiction group, much in the vein of X-Writers, Marvel Volume One and Alternate Marvel, focussing primarily on the X-Men and associated mutant teams. Like the X-Writers, the jumping off point from continuity was the Age of Apocalypse event; in fact, the founder, Michael Miles, announced the project as "modeled after the old x-writers site"[2] in his opening announcement(s) on April 1, 1999 on ACFF (in total, there were 5 posts on April 1, one post on April 12 and one post on April 27, announcing the project and asking for writers).

X-Verse is an ongoing monthly fan fiction page where me and a group of writers put out monthly stories. These stories are based right after the Age of Apocolypse. These stories are like a comic without pictures and will be a continued story line like a real comic book.

[3]

The writers, based on their profiles on the site, were mostly in their teens[4]. Like the X-Writers, they posted to a mailing list and then the stories were archived to the site.

Submission Guidelines

To become a regular writer for one of my titles you need to e-mail me. In this e-mail you need to include why you want to write for this monthly title, how long and how much you know about the team or character. You need to put in a writing sample 5-10 kb long. Then you wait for me to e-mail you back and make sure you like the direction I'm going with the story, because ultimatley [sic] I have the final say. Then you need to include your e-mail adress [sic] and keep in constant contact with me. Now return to X-Verse.

There will be no profanity or sexual content acepted!!! [sic]

[5]

It appears the writers were able to produce one full set of issues before the project ended eight months after it was begun in October 1999, the date of the last update of the website.
