Reactions and Reviews
1987
The best story in the zine, in my opinion, is The Valley Of The Blue Sun, perhaps one of Robin Hood's best stories. Kirk and Spock are stranded in a strange valley in the mountains of a hostile planet where the inhabitants have forgotten what emotions are. Through a series of events, not only do the inhabitants learn what emotions are, Kirk and Spock get together! Robin rushed the ending a bit, and Spock's transformation is also a bit rushed, but this is a very good story, a good read. [1]
1990
Aside from the expository lump (a whole bunch of background that isn't worked into the story in a natural way) at the beginning, this story is plotted fairly well. Yet I did find it disappointing.
The telepathic aliens were interesting until they turned out to be pseudo-Vulcans. Then the story's central conflict shifted to the standard first time scenario. I knew then that "The Valley of the Blue Sun" had lost all potential for originality. It's a shame. [2]
1998
“From now on, from these words until Time stops herself dead, I am yours.” Kirk says to Spock. Listen to those words and feel them reverberate through your soul. Powerful, absolute commitment, no doubts, no buts, no restrictions, no conditions, no avenues of escape. All is being promised and All will be delivered. It is an oath. [3]
