THE HEROINES SHOWCASE #14 ($1.25 from Steven R. Johnson, [Campbell, CA]), formerly the HEROINE ADDICT. The new name shows THS' unwillingness to present controversy, but it does manage to dig up and glorify almost every heroine there is, from comics to TV. This issue marks a break in precedent: a pro, Steve Leialoha, did the covers. Uusally [sic] this is a true FANzine, encouraging people to write and draw for them. Spotlighted this issue are the Warlock women, Power Girl, Nancy Drew, Mme Xanadu, the Wasp, and the ever-present Red Sonja, who got an entire issue devoted to her last time. The articles are short but enthusiastic. Still one of the most fun zines to read.Carol "Strick" Strickland, Hola! #3, October 1978

The Heroines Showcase Art Portfolio
Martin Lock writes on the zine's current website:
The name "Art Portfolio" here is slightly misleading, as it does tend to bring to mind individual glossy art prints in a special envelope. Instead, these were magazines, in the same format as The Heroine Addict/Showcase and The Adventuress, the CHFC's fiction title - they featured just full-page artwork by the team, other than the contents page. The first Portfolio had a wrap-around cover by Mercy van Vlack, and pages inside by her as well, plus Ted Delorme, Kirk Hastings, Phil Laskowski, Tom Luth, Tom O'Reilly, Chris Padovano, Bob Rodi, Wes Smith, Carol Strickland, Scott Taylor, and Frank Travellin Jr. All their pictures can be found in the pdf file here; as well as the cover, I've put small reproductions of pages by Frank Travellin Jr (page 7) and Carol "Strick" Strickland (page 8) on this page just to whet your appetite!
