Reactions and Reviews

This is a real masterpiece and a must for fans of Vulcan stories. Kirk, an Ensign serving on the Farragut, is seconded to a scientist at the Vulcan Academy. Speck happens to be attending a series of computer lectures at the same time and, having spare time, ends up in Kirk's classes. The class is set a test, which involves travelling in groups across a desert to some caves, some five days distant. Each group contains a human. Kirk's group includes Spock and Stonn. It is interesting to see how the Vulcan intolerance of Kirk's human weaknesses slowly gives way to respect as his team gets to know him. This is a very interesting theme and excellently written, with nice touches of continuity from the series episodes. [1]
