THE TREKKIE'S CREED

I believe in Gene Roddenberry, the Great Bird of the Galaxy, Creator of the Federation; and in Star Trek, His television show, that was shown on NBC prime time TV, suffered in the Second Season, was moved to 10:30, lost the sponsors money, and was cancelled. The fans protested and wrote many letters; in he fifth year It rose again from the dead; It ascended into Saturday morning, and sitteth between "Butch Cassidy" and "Sigmund and the Sea Monsters"; from thence It shall come back into prime time if we Trekkies have our say. I believe in the Federation; the USS; the brotherhood of fans; the attending of conventions; the reading of fanzines; and the watching of reruns everlasting. Amen.

OUR CAPTAIN

Our Captain, who art on the Bridge, remembered be thy middle name. Thy commands come; they will be done, in Sick Bay as they are in Engineering. Give us this day our Red Alert, and forgive us for pushing the wrong buttons, as we forgive those who get drunk in the rec rooms. Lead us not into the Neutral Zone, but deliver us from Klingons. Amen.

HAIL ENTERPRISE

Hail Enterprise, with a crew of 428, the Star Fleet owns thee! Great art thou among starshlps, and great is thy Captain, James T.

USS Enterprise, defend us from Klingons and Romulans, here and at the edge of the Neutral Zone. Amen.

GLORY BE

Glory be unto the Kirk, and to the Spock, and to the Real McCoy. Amen.

Star Trek Prayers

A similar fanwork is in Independent Entity #3 (1976): From Whence This Vestige by Joyce Stroedecke p. 17, includes a Trek version of the Lord's Prayer -- "Great Bird of the Galaxy, who art in the heavens; hallowed be thy name. Thy trekdom come, thy dreams be done on Terra as it is in the heavens. Give us this day our daily episode, and forgive us our misquotes as we forgive those who misquote us. And lead us not into cancellation, and deliver us from Nielsons. For thine is the trekdom, the creator and the producer forever..."
