The Scarlet Seduction Squall and Irvine Contest was a 2004 challenge dedicated to Squall/Irvine from Final Fantasy VIII. Entries were voted on by readers, and several fics were chosen as winners in categories like Best Angst and Best Ficlet. The contest as a whole was for Squall/Irvine, but threesomes and alternate pairings were also allowed as long as Squall/Irvine appeared in some form. The Best Alternate Pairing category suggested, "Squifers, Zellvines, even a Squinoa or two, anything goes in this category!"
There is no archived version of the home page with a link to the submissions, but a link from Issue #7 of GushoushinFiles leads to a page of the category winners that was archived separately by the Wayback Machine. The overall winner was promised a commission from P.L. Nunn. Category winners, and runners-up for the overall winner, were promised "either one of a selection of Sqaull/Irvine doujinshi (including 'Lovers Noise' and 'Awkward White Star') or one of a selection of FF8 trinkets". Each winner was promised a custom banner by Gwendolyn Flight.
