A shortie with an interesting premise: the removal of a scar prompts Kirk to blurt out his love. The one thing I didn't like was Kirk begging Spock to let him keep his fantasies. I don't think the mirror Kirk would, but that's me. [1]
"He could lie again, he should lie again, but the delightful terror of revealing himself at last was too intoxicating to resist."
Mirror Spock has a scar removed that leads to some insights and intimacies between him and Kirk. Kirk asks Spock to mind meld with him so that he can discover Kirk's fantasy about the scar. I just found it difficult to accept that their relationship had progressed far enough for Kirk to allow Spock to mind meld with him.
If Kirk had such a hard time just telling Spock about it, why was ha so easily able to have Spock enter his mind? It seems to me that mind melding is a very serious, deeply personal, extremely intimate thing that one does not just go around doing with someone else just because you can't talk to them!
Nevertheless, I really liked the idea this story expresses about what love means to Kirk as he realizes that the scar shows the love between them since Spock got It saving Kirk's life. Also, the fantasy itself is lovely and poetic with just the right touch of eroticism. Excellent accompanying drawing by Jackie Zoost that realty enhances the story. [2]
Good writing; smooth and expressive.Spock has had a scar on his face removed. Kirk misses the scar; it reminded him that Spock got it saving his life. It seems Kirk gives in too easily to Spock's coercing him to reveal his fantasies. But in the mind-meld. Kirk's fantasies are wonderful!
Then Spock says I will be your lover for real, and let me show you my fantasies... Ah... [3]
