The Pragmatist is a Blake's 7 story by Julad. It's a character study of Jenna that explores her past and her relationships with the Liberator crew.
The story used to be hosted on Yuletide archive. It received a lot of positive comments.
Summary
Most of the people in the rebellion had a bitter reason for it: a father killed, a sister taken away, or a home demolished or liberty denied. Jenna had no such trauma. Her family was respectable, her status impeccable, her freedoms generous by Federation standards.
Author's Notes
I'm so, so, so sorry for any typos or errors or canon screw-ups! I just plain ran out of time to check everything. Thanks to Calico, Terri and Mia for beta and assistance.

Reactions and Reviews
I wouldn't have said Jenna was my favourite Blakes 7 character, but this story made me find her interesting. The trouble with the series was that she never had that much to do, so this gives her a lot more backstory and you can understand from it why she's the way she is.
It's written in an interesting way, with tales from her life before the series starts intercut with her opinions on the Liberator crew. It gives us a new view of them and of her too. [1]
This story is wonderful. This is the Jenna we always suspected was hidden under the eye-candy we were shown on screen. I think this should be canonical reading for all B7 fans. [2]
Yes! Lovely Jenna in her many phases of survival. Having reread it a couple of times, I especially like the beautifully understated bits with her dad; I loved that you framed her appreciation of her new life through the worldview he'd cultivated in her. Also liked the theme of diminishing options throughout, and that you made her fairly unmoved by Avon's charms - in this fandom, pretty rare *g* [3]
Great character study! Jenna is not only pragmatic here, but rather ruthlessly pragmatic in her forward planning, her analysis of others (I loved her view of the rest of the crew), and her rational reasons for piracy and rebellion. It was great that her human side finally shone through in her frienship with Cally. [4]
