The Philadelphia Story is a 1940 romantic comedy film based on a 1939 Broadway play of the same name. The story centers on Tracy Lord (Katharine Hepburn), a socialite on the eve of her wedding, which is complicated by the arrival of her ex-husband C.K. Dexter Haven (Cary Grant) and reluctant tabloid reporter Macaulay "Mike" Connor (James Stewart).

The 1956 MGM musical High Society is a remake of the film.

As of May 2022, there are 43 works based on the film at Archive of Our Own. The story is also sometimes used as a basis for AUs or fusions with characters from other fandoms.
