Reactions and Reviews

What I do recall of it is that a) it was a supernatural-ish story of sorts b) it didn't have very remarkable characterisation. It's fine as a generic romance goes, but the characters just didn't scream of the lads. Bodie, I think, was a very fine and considerate lover. Raby came across as somewhat fey (he was the one who heard, and by reader's deduction I guess identified with, the blind Irish female ghost with a Tragic Past and Painful Death.[1]

Just read The Legend of Eileen Fey - you're right about it being fairly generic and Doyle being the one who heard the ghost and all, but... to be fair I'd say they [2] were as soppy as each other, and there's no Bodie trying to explain to Doyle that he couldn't have heard a ghost - the story just doesn't go there. So shall give this one the benefit of the doubt, and just describe them both as "romantic"! (Not my lads, mind - don't mind a bit of romance, but I need to see my lads in there too, and they weren't here...) [3]

I'm not a fan of Jane's writing, which should be factored into my comments. Since Jane's work is well-represented in a significant number of stories on the Proslib CD, each reader can easily determine her own response to this author's work. In particular, readers might wish to look at "The Legend of Eileen Fey" as that tale is partly incorporated into this novel.[4][5]
