Challenge
"Spock sees Kirk throwing eyes at another man and decides that this is enough! He can take the women, the way he's always done, but Kirk eyeing another guy? Nope. Vulcan jealousy is awakened."
Reactions and Reviews
RHRJJENE ITS 2 am and my mind just got fucking blasted into another dimension hNNg it’s g o o d [1]
Absolutely WONDERFUL, and damn hot. I live for jealous Spock. [2]
"I want to be by your side in everything. I want to touch you in all the ways lovers touch each other." He took a deep breath. "I want to guard your back, and take you inside me in the night, and wake next to you in the morning. I want to make you feel everything your body can feel and hear you cry out and feel you tremble. And when we are old, or our enemies have found us, I want to hold your mind close in mine and go with you into the darkness and be with you for all time." Oh, my! That was so searingly lovely that the rest of us can just stop writing right now, because perfection has been achieved. [3]
I'm glad they worked it out. [4]
I have to tell you that I enjoyed several things about this story. One, Kirk's confusion. Two, McCoy's observations, and three: Spock's reaction. All handled well and written well. Thanks for the tale.[5]
"He wanted...and the assorted stresses of the day caught up with him and pulled him down into sleep, and when he woke, it was to feel a smile curving his mouth and a hot hand in a sensitive place, and he gave himself over in joy to his Vulcan master."Simply beautiful. I love how the third party threat really wasn't and a nice person to boot. I love how Spock and Kirk worked things out in an adult manner, willing to ultimately talk and listen to each
other. I love that you didn't have them together yet so there was no infidelity involved. And if I haven't made it perfectly clear yet, I love this story.[5]
(Author and reviewer responses indented.)My God ... WOW! This is so incredibly awesome I am speechless. This is probably one of the greatest characterizations of Spock I've ever seen. Certainly it gets my vote for the best DeepBuriedBlazingPassions!Spock ever written. And since there was plenty of BestFirstOfficerintheFleet!Spock in the story as well, I was one happy Trekker when I read it.
- DeepBuriedBlazingPassions!Spock -- I love that! It's exactly what I had in mind so I'm certainly glad he came across that way.
Everything about the story was wonderful, including Leyland (it was cool to make him from the North of England), though I did wonder how McCoy could think that K&S were lovers without knowing for sure, though maybe I'm just overestimated what a medical tricorder can tell him.
- Leyland was drawn partly from my north of England dad. I've wanted to play with that dialect and rhythm for a long time--I love to hear it. His mother was from Liverpool and his dad was a London cockney and he could prattle on at length in either dialect. I can almost still hear him now, ten years after his death.
- Re McCoy--this is not the tuned-in-to-his-captain McCoy that I usually visualize. This one is a little more 'just the ship's doctor.'
The dynamics and exchange of power in the sex scene were absolutely perfect. I'm in awe of what it takes to write scene between two strong men who understand exactly where they stand with each other both sexually and professionally. But I loved nothing so much as the dialogue, especially Spock's. The two passages I loved most of all were both in Part 5. This one should be made into handouts and inserted in the K/S Writers' Inservice Training Manual as an example of K/S Expression That is So Apt and Perfect It Can Hardly Be Surpassed:
He said, "I want to be by your side in everything. I want to touch you in all the ways lovers touch each other." He took a deep breath. "I want to guard your back, and take you inside me in the night, and wake next to you in the morning. I want to make you feel everything your body can feel and hear you cry out and feel you tremble. And when we are old, or our enemies have found us, I want to hold your mind close in mine and go with you into the darkness and be with you for all time."
- That is high praise indeed and I thank you very much. That speech of Spock's was what the whole story was aiming at. I had that in mind before I even started to write the rest of it.
And this was well worth Kirk's hearty laugh as an example of the Spock who knows everything that happens among the crew "Perhaps I should first determine whose money is on which conclusion," Spock said gravely.
Liz, you drew a challenging K/S theme and handled it brilliantly.
- Thank you so much for your feedback--that makes all the work worthwhile, as you know. Especially in this case--I struggled with the ending of this one for ages. Almost threw it out and started over because I just couldn't make them come together in a way that came naturally out of the rest of the story but was something more than just another first time fuck. Getting feedback like this is my reward for all the frustrating hours I spent on it.
- To me, what is so wonderful about this story is that it shows so plainly the high stakes for both men of a K/S relationship. Not just the obvious issues like risking the friendship, problems with Starfleet and the command relationship (although those are not trivial, of course), but the danger posed by what both men know will be the sheer intensity and force of the relationship. The sex scene is a fitting resolution to the story because it is grounded in such a clear-sighted understanding of what's at stake in the relationship, both risks and rewards.[5]
Hoo-hoo! What a terrific story indeed! The sex scene between Spock and Kirk rates 2 cold showers and 2 hand jobs!! Hot!! Sizzling hot!! And as for those questions posed at the end of this sizzler....I want them answered too. I especially liked the show Kirk put on for Spock. More!! That was such a dick-raiser!! When are you going to have Spock reciprocate?[6]
not unflawed, but a nice piece into itself with an outstanding characterization of kirk. buriedblazingpassions!spock really lights my fire, too. ;) this is one of those stories i save on my hard drive to read over and over, just for this one hot, brilliant, glowing moment.[7]
