The Helper's Network Directory is a Beauty and the Beast (TV) fan resource.
It was published twice a year. Note: the issue numbering is confusing.
It was a print publication that listed fan clubs, a small number of zine flyers, and information about cons. It pre-dated The Helpers' Network Gazette.
This zine was mentioned in Pipeline v.4 n.2/3:
...there is obviously a lot of interest still out there [for "Pipeline"]. With this in mind, the April issue will also be a special promotional mailing aimed at reaching out to all those who have ever shown an interest in "Beauty and the Beast." The Helper's Network mailing list of over 5,000 is chock full of people who never followed through after receiving their 1st Network Directory ...or simply drifted away during 2nd or 3rd season. If my own mail is any indication, many may now assume we all are just not around any more!
Regarding Advertising
If you are interested in advertising your product in the Summer '94 issue of Helper's Network Directory, read the following:There are 2 rates in which advertising is charged. There is a business rate and a fan rate. Businesses are charged more than fans. This is to give the fan an advantage over a business that has a greater monetary influence like Carolco. There are 4 sizes of advertising. These are full page, half page, quarter page, and business card size. The table below indicates the proper cost for the appropriate rate and size. In addition to these charges, there is a $30 charge for setup on a half tone (gray scaled) add. We try to match as many of these on a page as is possible to share the cost and give you a refund on what we save you.

A page is defined by one 8 1/2" x 11" piece of paper minus a 1/4" border around the parameter. This leaves the full size print area 8" x 10 1/2". All adds must be camera ready black and white. This price is for 1 years worth of advertising and is read mainly by people seeking knowledge, information, and merchandise related to Beauty and the Beast the T.V. series.

Dear loyal B&TB fans:
We have now completed a year of service. We hope you feel it is worthwhile. After looking through this issue, we invite you to write us and tell us what you think of it and offer any constructive criticism. What would make more people subscribe? What would keep current subscribers from
dropping? What would you like to see changed or added? If your ideas are good, sound, and within budget and reason, we will do them. In the past year many clubs have been formed, gone away, or changed address. This makes it extremely difficult to keep track of everything. Our budget is strained to the max now. However it is extremely important that we keep all the information up-to-date. The postage to send out queries to all the clubs just to see if there have been any changes would eat us right up. We gathered information on many changes at Great Expectations this last July. Integrating them into the directory at the last minute took a little longer than first thought. If you know anything about the club listings not being correct in any way, please write us.
We do contact clubs that a flag has been raised on, but if a flag has not been raised, we never know.
A suggestion to remove the member count from the individual club entries has been made by Bob Kerwin of the Chamber Friends in Germany. It was suggested that smaller clubs such as Helpers Above Tulsa tend to be more active than larger clubs but are discriminated against in favor of a larger club. I feel that this is a valid point and it has been removed, but in return it has been changed to a total club membership worldwide. To date, the count is 4,182 fans.
This cannot be an extremely accurate number because some fans may belong to more than one club. On the other hand, clubs writing in with a membership size of "Large" do not get counted because we cannot assign any number to it.

Dear loyal B&TB fans:
Greatest apologies to everyone for the tardiness of this mailing. We said we would try to get this one out on time, however, there were some last minute entries that needed to be made in the database for this issue. Other upheavals in the personal area did not help much either. At any rate, we are committed to bringing you the publication with current and up to date information.
Since our last issue, we have not received many corrections on existing clubs. This means either that there is no change, or that the clubs are not talking. We will be soliciting all our clubs and contact persons for updates before the next printing in August. Our subscription base has been dwindling lately, so let your friends know it is time to pick their subscriptions up again.

There is more to report on this time, however, we do not have all the facts. What's going on with the new Advo Cats? Who has just had a baby? What have the stars done lately? For the most part, not much has happened lately with regards to our show. However, if you have a story, please write it up and send it to us. If we feel it needs to be told, we will print it here in future issues. We reserve editors rights to reword where we feel it is necessary if it goes to print. In all probability, it will get in.
