The Big Anonymous Fanfiction Tales Awards or BAFTAs were planned Lord of the Rings fan awards held in 2005. It shares its acronym with the British Academy of Film and Television Arts film awards.

The awards did not proceed past the nominations stage.

About

The BAFTAs are intended to try to bring a quality voters' choice award into the Tolkien fandom. Whereas many put higher trust in judged awards, we do not, as judged awards are subject to a limited number of people reading and judging and their personal preferences. We believe that recognition of quality can be done in this way. This is why we have created detailed forms that need to be filled in by every voter. This is why we try to make the readers look closely at the stories they read before they vote. We are not saying we are perfect, we are saying that we have something we want to try.

Please try it with us, prove that good fanfiction can win awards.
