Author's Note

Alright, I'm gonna try something a little different here. This will be a pretty slow burn fic with lots o' Swan Queen and a lovely narration by Henry Mills. Just to set you guys up, this is an AU, no curse obviously, no magic, taking the characters and deviating them from the show a decent amount.

The story begins with Henry at age 23 and will work as a series of flashbacks. Hope you enjoy!

**For those who have already read this...yes! this has been posted before. Eventually, it disappeared off fan fiction and my computer after a misfortunate and freak computer crash from a bug/virus thing. ANYWAY. Thanks to some Swen they supplied me with a copy that they had saved so here it is! :)***

Reactions and Reviews

one of the most hyped up sq sad fics for good reason[1]

One of those stories that you read and literally change your life. I cannot express enough how awe-inspiring and just amazing that this fic really is. I read it continually from start to finish, and cried… a lot. If you only ever read one fanfiction in your entire existence, make it this one. I felt like crying and screaming and squealing with how utterly perfect and well thought-out this is, and I cannot use words to describe how it made me feel - basically just a pool of fangirl on my bedroom floor. Wow, this isn’t making any sense, and I apologise for that, but the feeling of giddyness that just consumes me when I think of this fic just… ugh. Just go read it.[2]

if you haven’t read this already, wyd? The ending will destroy you - be prepared to cry.[3]

I now regret that I passed this fic several times because of my own prejudice to fics in first person perspective, because when I started it and got the ball moving, I couldn’t stop. And I loved it. In this fic, using that perspective works. Believe me when I say it’s worth it. And besides, the whole fic is not written in the first person. It’s hilarious, fluffy, and yes, very very angsty. Prepare your tissues, wine, pillow and your heart.[4]

And I freaking hate y'all for letting me read that knowing how it ends. Like y'all couldn’t warn a bitch she was bouts to get in her feels damn[5]

it’s my favorite when I’m in the mood to cry[6]

If you’ve never read The Art of Being Extraordinary by purplehershey can you truly call yourself swen?[7]

Like, I just wanted to relax but it's already 12am and I'm a crying mess here. Some stories just stays with us forever[8]

I knew about the *big twist* before I even started reading, but it still hit me like a shot to the heart. Why must you ff writers hurt me this way? Don’t stop.[9]

This story, The Art of Being Extraordinary by purplehershey, is absolutely beautiful. It is the epitome of fanfic. I get chills. I cry. I laugh. And I could read it again and again and again and still feel the agony that this story evokes. It is heartbreaking but I will gladly allow this story to break my heart time and time again.[10]

So, I just read The Art of Being Extraordinary. What the fuck. I am bawling my mother fucking eyes out. That is the cutest and simultaneously saddest Swan Queen fan fiction ever. So good.[11]

I read this story in a few hours from start to end.

And this is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever read in my entire life.

This is a masterpiece, this is a best seller.

There is these stories, that touch you so deeply that you now you will never be the same after read it. This is one of them.
