I like it, but I'm not a vidder. Maybe someone who is active in the vidding community has some insight into what other kind of information should be included (or not). --Doro 18:43, 18 September 2010 (UTC)
- Added character/pairing and format fields based on feedback. If there are no further suggestions, I believe this template is ready to be used!--æthel 20:08, 23 September 2010 (UTC)
- Both character and format are fields that I'm not going to use and don't find particular useful. :( We don't have these fields for stories either and often it's much more complicated than saying it's about character X. The format field to me is like saying a story is available in txt, html, rtf, doc, pdf, or whatever - meaning it could be available in all these formats over time, doesn't change anything about the story (or in this case vid). Also, it makes the template bigger/more comprehensive than it needs to be and there is little information left for the main article. What I thought might be more intesting is language (or lack thereof when it's an instrumental vid). Many vids are in English but not all of them are, and some of those in English have subtitles/text in a different language. --Doro 18:42, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- I removed the character field. The format field I was thinking could be used to distinguish VCR vids from modern digital vids, which could be useful. Language would be interesting, but could be included in the music field--wouldn't it be implied in the song choice?--æthel 23:44, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- I was thinking about a Russian story vid using an English song (I could understand the lyrics but had to keep a translation of the Russian text open in another window) or a vid with English lyrics and Chinese and English subtitles. But that kind of thing - even English subtitles for English vids - is probably the exception. Maybe a field for sources would be more useful? That could apply to vids that just use a few specific episodes of a show and vids that use external sources in addition to the show footage. --Doro 00:04, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- I like sources. Sources have been added.--æthel 14:37, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- I think it's ready now. Maybe ask someone at the org meeting? I understand there are quite a few vidder type people... --Doro 14:46, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- The only suggestion was that the "source" field was confusing, so I altered the wording and the placement. How does it look now?--æthel 16:16, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
- I like source better than other footage because source is more inclusive. You could for example say "ep 3.01 and 3.02" or "episodes 1.01 - 1.04", etc. when it's just source, you can't add that when it's explicitly "other footage". --Doro 16:19, 25 September 2010 (UTC)
