This template is used for articles documenting fandoms for video games.

Key

All fields are optional.

  • |name=: The official name of the game. If left blank, the template will use the article title.
  • |japanese name=: The Japanese-language name of the game, if the game was originally released in Japan.
  • |abbreviation=: Known fannish abbreviations for the game, if any. Depending on the game, there may be multiple.
  • |developer=: The person, group, or company that developed the game. For many indie games, this is the same as the publisher.
  • |publisher=: The person, group, or company that published the game.
  • |reveal date=: The date the game was first announced; the "reveal" of the eventual release.
  • |release date=: The date of the first public release, which might be an early-access game or an open beta release. Additional date notes can go in the body text.
  • |platforms=: The game consoles and computer operating systems that the game is released on.
  • |genre=: The genre of the game, e.g. action platformer, shooter, etc.
  • |parent=: The larger series or franchise that this game applies to, if any apply. Can also be inputted as |series=.
  • |external links=: The game's company page or other official links. This is sometimes a Steam page.
  • |see also=: A larger/multimedia fandom, other related games, or both.
  • |image=: A fan poster, fanart piece, or another type of visual fanwork that showcases major elements of the game's canon or fandom. Standalone official logos, unedited promotional art, and similar official images should be avoided unless needed to provide context about the work. Only the file name is needed; the template will truncate [[File:]] and similar markup.
  • |image caption=: A caption for the image. Good information to put here is a short description of the image, title and author information, and so on. Can also be inputted as |caption=.
  • |image alt text=: Alt text for the image; this should be a description of the image and its contents. Can also be inputted as |image alt= or |alt=.
  • |fandom category=: The specific fandom category that this game applies to, if any applies, such as Category:Mario. If this parameter is specified, the template will assign the page to the category specified and adjust the sortkey to move the page to the top of the category's list of pages. Otherwise, the template will assign the page to Category:Fandoms by Source Text and Category:Video Games. Only the category name is needed; the template will truncate [[Category:]] and similar markup. If this parameter is given the argument escape, no category is automatically added.

This field must be formatted without Category markup or syntax; the template will add the necessary markup. To disable this functionality, use the argument 'escape' with no quotes or capitalization.
