Tattoo Parlor AU is a type of alternate universe in which characters work at or own a tattoo parlor.
The similar Flower Shop and Tattoo Parlor AU arose from an unrelated Tumblr post in 2014, but tattoo AUs have existed since long before then. It's possible that the popularity of one has bolstered the other.

Tattoo Parlor AUs are typically mundane, although some may incorporate fantasy or scifi elements of canon, or even introduce fantasy elements.
Usually distinct in genre from fanworks that include tattoos as magic or soulmarks.
