Talk:The Plantir
Is the title really "The Plantir"? Not "Palantir" like the seeing stones in LOTR?--Ratcreature 10:24, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- "palantir" is probably what it's supposed to be. I'm going off the University of Iowa's Special Collection site [1] and "plantir" is what they have. That means the librarian was wrong and made a typo on the entry (for shame), or the editor of the zine is wrong and made a typo on the zine itself. Both are equally possible. I could put a "sic" after the title on the entry here, but that would assume that it was a typo and not a personal decision (for whatever reason) of the zine creator to name it as such. Or would "sic" cover both? Another option would be to put a remark in the entry noting the odd word choice. In any case, there should be something so that it's searchable, and so the person (me) who added this entry doesn't look like a complete dope. Mrs. Potato Head 12:52, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I suspect there will be a disambiguation for Palantir eventually anyway, since googling for this plus zine gave LOTR zines that contained the term, like I Palantir, and other fanzines for bands and such too, so on that page this spelling could be put as well, until mre is known.--Ratcreature 13:16, 8 November 2009 (UTC)
Duplicated Page?
There's no other information about "The Plantir" apart from that listing in the University of Iowa's Special Collection site. The date of the first issue of this zine corresponds with the date of The Palantir (Tolkien zine) Issue 1. I honestly think it's a misspelling on the Uni of Iowa's part and that this article should be merged with the other one. Rossi (talk) 01:45, 31 August 2024 (UTC)
