British-born author, maybe? She was living in the States while writing the series (and still does). She did, though, draw on her memories of Britain for the books; so "American" wouldn't be strictly accurate, either. --Greer Watson (talk) 07:01, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
- That's interesting! I'd never realised she lived in the States, let alone that she'd written most of the sequence whilst living there. To characterise the books as American feels to me grossly misleading -- they're so based in English/Welsh folk tales. Wikipedia seems to call them UK and gives first publisher as Puffin Books, which as far as I know is and was a UK publisher. I'd suggest we leave the country of origin as Britain, but change the author to British-born to reflect her current residence. Espresso Addict (talk) 23:41, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
