British-born author, maybe? She was living in the States while writing the series (and still does). She did, though, draw on her memories of Britain for the books; so "American" wouldn't be strictly accurate, either. --Greer Watson (talk) 07:01, 26 May 2013 (UTC)

That's interesting! I'd never realised she lived in the States, let alone that she'd written most of the sequence whilst living there. To characterise the books as American feels to me grossly misleading -- they're so based in English/Welsh folk tales. Wikipedia seems to call them UK and gives first publisher as Puffin Books, which as far as I know is and was a UK publisher. I'd suggest we leave the country of origin as Britain, but change the author to British-born to reflect her current residence. Espresso Addict (talk) 23:41, 26 May 2013 (UTC)
