I find this phrase confusing: "wank, except inasmuch as they do grow tiresome, and thus less worthwile for a comedic read." I think there's an assumption implied, but not stated here, that people find wank or ship wars inherently amusing; this may or may not be true, but needs to be clarified in either case.--Aethel 21:32, 4 December 2008 (UTC)
- And I would say that being epic and scope and intensity aren't so much what differentiate shipwars from wank, as what makes them wank, although I'm aware views vary. Can this be somewhat re-written? --Betty 23:57, 6 December 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps they meant that wank can be large or small, short or long, but that "ship war" requires a certain minimum duration and intensity? All ship wars are wanks, but not all wanks are ship wars. Y/N?--Aethel 00:38, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah. Also I think for it to qualify as a ship war it needs enough participants to have at least some impact on the fandom or at least the forum where it takes place (in larger fandoms). Two fans can easily have a disagreement that is wank, But you can't count it as a "ship war" if it's just too people grumping at each other over pairings.--Ratcreature 07:03, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
