I think this page should be renamed Stargate SG-1/Samantha Carter. --Doro 08:57, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Can I ask why? We originally went for the Stargate/Character format for people/things that had a strong basis in both SG1 and SGA to keep from privileging one over the other (and to keep from having duplicate pages). Both Stargate SG-1/Samantha Carter and Stargate Atlantis/Samantha Carter redirect here. (I don't understand why her name isn't showing up in the subpages list, but the link in the text redirects properly.) --Arduinna 15:51, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I didn't see any discussion on this page and just noticed that the Stargate SG-1 page has subpages for three of the four main characters but not for Carter. Sam was nine years (ETA: I forgot the pregnancy) a main character in SG-1 and in almost every episode and just one year as a secondary character in a few episodes on SGA. Not privileging SG-1 here seems very strange to me. For what it's worth, Spike has a subpage on BtVS. --Doro 16:22, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- I also think she should get an SG-1 subpage, at least if the redirects can't be made visible in the subpages lists (though I'm mystified by how the subpage list works anyway, they don't seem to be sorted and suck for finding things)--Ratcreature 18:09, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

- Actually, I just figured out how they're sorted! It's alphabetical-in-reverse. But the centered format makes it really hard to see that; for the longest time, I thought they were sorted by when they were created. (You can see the sort on the Stargate Atlantis page -- it goes from Wraith to Aiden in perfect reverse alpha order.) I'm going to write to the wiki committee to see if that can be reversed. I also know that at least one redirect is showing up as a subpage (that freaking "7" from 24/7 is still showing up on the 24 page, grr), so I'm wondering if the problem with Sam is that her page is basically empty -- the redirect isn't pointing to what the wiki considers a "real" page yet, so it's not showing up. Maybe. If I can get some time this afternoon, I'll try adding some info for Sam and see if I can bulk it up enough to make the wiki recognize it as a valid page, and see if that affects the subpage listing at all. (Although if anyone else wants to jump in first, please do!) --Arduinna 18:18, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- ETA: I want to try the page-bulking first because, if possible, I'd like to keep the combined page. I agree that Sam obviously has a much longer, deeper history on SG-1, but she was a main character on SGA for a year, and a lot of fans' only exposure to her was through SGA. But if the combined thing winds up not working, then yes, she should be listed under SG-1, definitely. --Arduinna 18:30, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
- Well, my clever plan totally failed, woe. So the page is moved now to a subpage of SG1, and I'll fix the redirects that were going to the old page. --Arduinna 01:54, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
- I couldn't check the site before today and now there is suddenly a whole page on Sam instead of an empty stub. You are made of awesome!! (And thank you for the subpage solution. :)--Doro 07:57, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
