Talk:Real Boys

I believe this is the first part of the story described on the Real Boys page. The quoted review on this page says the title is "A Chip off the Old Blog", but if you click through to the story, it's titled "Real Boys (A Chip Off the Old Blog)". The version that thefourthvine linked to is on ds flashfiction, dated 2006-12-30 with a word count of ~4900 [1]. There's an expanded version on Salieri's old website, called just "Real Boys" (word count ~22,000), but the first chapter is "A Chip Off the Old Blog"[2] and the text of the first chapter matches what was posted on ds_flashfiction. The version on her website also has a note at the end: Finally: This is the continuation of "Real Boys (A Chip Off the Old Blog)," the short piece originally posted under the "genre" challenge as a riff on Philip K. Dick's dystopia.

One of the reviews on the Real Boys page claims that the sequel is called "A Chip Off the Old Blog", but I think they were confused. There is a sequel, but it's called Real Worlds. Salieri's old website lists both stories[3] and says of Real Worlds: This is a sequel to "Real Boys," a Space!Mountie story first written for the ds_flashfiction "genre" challenge. This story picks up 3 years after the conclusion of "Real Boys." 39,000 w

I think it would be better to consolidate the explanation of this story's history on the Real Boys page and turn this into a redirect. Also, I found a space mountie tag on troyswann's dreamwidth.--aethel (talk) 22:59, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
